Open to anyone still in the classroom

  • Practising school, college and university teachers
  • Principals and academic coordinators
  • Special educators and learning-support specialists
  • Trainers, lecturers and professors
  • Minimum three years' teaching experience
  • Under sixty years of age in the nomination year
The Process

From nomination to ceremony

Eight stages, each communicated to nominees as it happens.

    Choose your category

    Fourteen categories are open, from Best Teacher to Special Educator and Lifetime Achievement.

  2. 02

    Complete the application

    Personal details, contact information, academic qualification and professional profile.

  3. 03

    Upload your documents

    Qualification certificate, résumé, identity proof and a photograph, submitted securely.

  4. 04

    Complete the self-assessment

    Five short written responses on your teaching practice, innovation and impact.

  5. 05

    Declaration and review

    Confirm your submission. You will receive acknowledgement once it is received.

  6. 06

    Verification and shortlisting

    The evaluation committee reviews credentials and draws a shortlist per category.

  7. 07

    Final evaluation

    Shortlisted educators are assessed in depth, including leadership and community involvement.

  8. 08

    Ceremony

    Winners are honoured at the award ceremony alongside the international conference.

We do not ask what school you teach at. We ask what changed for the students who sat in front of you.

The 2026 award will be held alongside an international education conference bringing together educators, researchers, school leaders and policy voices from across the Academy’s network — with an open call for papers.

    Issued in the awardee's category and signed by the selection committee.

    Presented at the ceremony in the presence of partner institutions and press.

    Free DTC registration

    Best Teacher Award recipients receive complimentary registration for the Diploma in Teachers Counselling.

  4. 04

    Network membership

    Awardees join the Academy's alumni and resource-person network for future collaboration.
